The 1988 UK representative, Scott Fitzgerald came a very close second - by only one point might we add! Sorry Celine but he’s always been a winner in our eyes!
We are delighted to have Scott on his 30 year anniversary since participating in the Eurovision Song Contest! Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Scott represented the United Kingdom in 1988 with the song ‘Go’. His song was written and composed by Julie Forsyth, daughter of the late Sir Bruce Forsyth. During the voting Scott was pipped at the last minute by Celine Dion, who won for Switzerland with ‘Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi’ by just one single point!
Scott has had many other hits other than his ESC entry. Some of which include ‘Judy Played The Jukebox’ in 1974 and the title track to glam rock movie ‘Never Too Young To Rock’ in 1975. In 1978 he dueted with Yvonne Keeley for the song ‘If I Had Words’, as song which was featured in the 1995 film Babe, how sweet!
Keeping Eurovision in the family, Scott’s son Ki Fitzgerald co-wrote this year’s Finnish entry ‘Monsters’ for Saara Aalto.
